Biography

Harrison Jiedueh, better known by his pen name “Black Baby,” was a prominent Liberian cartoonist during the early 1980s. Black Baby’s cartoons were published in the Daily Observer and were often controversial, depicting urban women or critiques of the government, particularly of President Samuel K. Doe. In 1984, after criticizing President Doe, Black Baby was forced to flee from death squads to the United States.
