This website is devoted to research and scholarship on, and the active promotion of, African cartoonists and their work. The rights to the cartoons on the site are owned by the cartoonists. The use of samples of the cartoons on the site conforms to “fair use” in the purpose and character of the use, the nature, the quantity from each cartoonist in relation to the cartoonist’s whole pool, and the effect on the value of the cartoonist’s work.
An integrated aspect of the encyclopedia is a directory of the cartoonists, so that a cartoonist can be easily contacted for permissions. Please support African cartoonists in their much-needed but often dangerous work of speaking truth to power.
