Roland T. Wentzel was born in America in 1907, and moved to South Africa in 1937. He was the first American to publish a comic strip in Afrikaans. The strip was called “Boetie en Adoons,” and it was about the experiences of a little boy on a farm. The strip appeared in the newspaper Volksbylaag in 1948.
