Learn More About Lou Henning

Biography

Lou Henning was born in the Orange Free State in 1942 and obtained his teaching diploma from the Bloemfontein Teachers’ Training College, where he specialized in art, and his bachelors from the University of the Orange Free State. After a brief stint in advertising, he took over from Erik Thamm as the full time cartoonist for Die Transvaler in 1973. Afterwards, he succeeded Len Lindeque as the regular cartoonist at Rapport in 1980. He was awarded the Standard Bank Cartoonist of the Year title in 1983.
