Tamer Youssef was born in Cairo in 1974 and began working for a local newspaper, Le Progrés Egyptien, at the young age of fourteen. After attending the French school, the Collège de la Salle, his work began to appear in numerous Egyptian newspapers, including The Egyptian Gazette, Live Colors, and Egypt Today. Soon, Youssef’s work expanded to an international audience when his illustrations appeared in publications in France, Romania, and the United States, among others. In 2009, Youssef’s caricatures were the subject of a solo exhibition, “Le Monde de Caricature de Tamer Youssef 2” at the Alliance Française of San Francisco.
