Biography

Bob Destin Zinga-Kanza was born in the Republic of the Congo and lived there until the outbreak of the civil war in 1997, which forced him to immigrate to Côte d’Ivoire in order to finish his studies. Although Kanza studied medicine and switched to Information Science in university, he began cartooning when he could not find a job. In the late 1990s and into the early 2000s Kanza was on the editorial staff for the comic magazine Gbich! in Abidjan. During this time, Kanza became famous for his character Sergent Deutogo-a corrupt police officer. In 2002, Kanza relocated to France for a year and worked with the magazine Jeune Afrique L’Intelligent before becoming a freelance artist, illustrator, web designer, and cartoonist.
