Learn More about Ali Dilem


Ali Dilem’s cartooning career began in the 1990s with the paper Le Jeune Independent and later Le Matin before joining Liberté in 1996 where he continues to publish his cartoons. Dilem’s cartoons are also featured in the French television program Kiosque. Ali Dilem is well known for working under tough conditions and has been fined, sentenced to prison, and had a fatwa issued against him for publishing outspoken cartoons. Dilem has received many awards, most notably the International Prize of Drawing in Written Press, the Freedom of Press Trophy, and others. In 2010, Dilem was made a Chevalier of France’s Ordre des Arts et Des Lettres.
