Biography
Benjamin Omar was born in 1949 in Durban where, as an adult, he worked as a full-time cartoonist and artist in a publishing firm. He is most famous for Kyk-Daar: The Rooinek’s Guide to South Africa, a booklet of humorous drawings that present South Africa through the eyes of a British immigrant. In addition to cartooning, he has exhibited his paintings in Johannesberg, the UK, France, and Israel.
